Bio
Dr Lee Junyi is a Senior Scientist at the Quantum Innovation Centre at A*STAR. He earned his B.A. from the University of Chicago and earned his Ph.D. in physics at Princeton University, where he developed a K-³He co-magnetometer that significantly improved constraints on axion-nucleon coupling, an achievement published in Physical Review Letters (120, 161801, 2018).
Since returning to Singapore, Dr Junyi has contributed to quantum computing and fundamental physics research, including an efficient algorithm for amplitude-encoded state preparation (Physical Review Applied, 18, 024013, 2022) and continued work on exotic physics searches (Physical Review X, 13, 011050, 2023).
He was also awarded a Quantum Engineering Programme 2.0 grant that allowed him to build an optically pumped magnetometer with a sensitivity of 20 fT/sqrt(Hz) in Earth's field. At the Quantum Sensing Centre, Dr Lee Junyi will lead a project to further engineer this optically pumped magnetometer into a form factor capable of performing magnetic anomaly detection in an outdoor environment.
